The instructions were easy to follow. very helpful.
I learned of some new sources, and got a lovely overall picture of some terrific options available today. Crystal keeps it light, super encouraging and never talks down to her readers. Great resource!
People are always wanting inexpensive ways to make great in images for social media and blogging. This author has the answer and the expertise to teach you.
I never knew all the options that were out there to create graphics that are eye-catching and useful. "Creative Basics" gave me the tools to find my creative side again. Now instead of seeing quote graphics and wishing I could create something similar, I know that I can create something better!
I got to go through this with Crystal in her online class. It was awesome!! It made making professional looking graphics super easy. I always wondered how everyone did it, and now I'm the one with the beautiful graphics too!
I enjoyed the book, I was very excited about it. I was following the directions to a T! Then I got to the point where the author explains you can not go any further unless you are using an iPhone. WHAT! I couldn't go any further with the lesson. I'm on android. And I was reading the book and following along on my laptop. I had no idea this book was for people on their phone, and on an iPhone. VEry disappointing once I got to that point in the book. I promptly returned it and moved on to a new book and new lessons. Maybe change the title of the book to apple.......
Maybe I was confused about the description, but there's nothing creative in this book. I thought there might be inspiring examples or actual design advice. It's basically a list of free sites like canva and then instructions on how to use those sites. Which instructions are found on those sites. The book tells you to go find some fonts and some quotes you like and then put them in a graphic. It's kind of insulting because one day it will say to make a quote graphic for pinterest or one for instagram. These are just different size images! NO design advice, such as which kinds of fonts to mix with each other etc.
Even one example per day's lesson would have been helpful but there's not a single graphic in this book. So you're basically typing quotes from the internet or the bible in different size images for something like 13 days. When you finally get to using images, it gives you instructions to make a collage from a free app that already has the layouts for a collage. Not a single word of artistic advice. I don't think my grandma would need instructions to use any of these apps or sites, but if she did, I suppose this book would be helpful. It should be called technical basics to using ridiculously simple free apps because there's not a single creative lesson in it. Here's day 24's lesson
1. Head over to Canva
2. Create whatever you want!
3. When you love it, download it and save it to your computer.
