I greatly enjoyed Dusti Dawn Rose's debut novel, Side Effects. This isn't your average zom-pocalypse novel. It has a unique spin, one I never saw coming! The author did a fantastic job with imagery in this story. I could picture the setting perfectly, and it made me want to visit that part of the country (minus flesh-eating heathens, of course) I am much looking forward to the next part in this series, as I'm invested in the characters and their well-being. Overall, I gave this a four-star rating because it kept me in suspense and made my imagination run wild!Product details

Such a great story that grabs you from moment one. Character development is important to me and I love how she makes you involved from the very beginning. I look forward to the rest of her books so much.

I really liked this book. It is a bit of a quick read, but worth it.
I took one star away because the characters were a little to "picture perfect" in their responses and actions. A little more internal conflict would have been more believable.
The apocalyptic genre is my favorite, but zombies not so much. However, this story is able to tie both of those into a fast-paced, thrill of a ride that is packed to the brim with hidden gems of good advice. The situations that these 'kids' run into are plausible and the realism of plot makes it a sure pager turner. I can't wait to see what's in store for the heroes in the next installment of the story.
DDR has written her first book & she did not let us down! The relationship between Emily and Drew is one we won't soon forget, nor are the face eating creepers that are lurking around every turn. As with most first time authors it takes a few chapters for DDR to find her groove, but you can definitely feel the connection and passion put into her work. I'll be waiting for book two, filled with all the adventure and hardships that may come!

I really loved this book! It is the first zombie themed book I have ever read. I like that it wasn't the typical zombie stuff and that the characters became a little more complex throughout the book. (Warning, some spoiler alerts)
I enjoyed all of the characters in this! It took me a bit to adjust to Jimmy just because he was talking so maturely for his age. But as the information about him unfolded it made sense for his character. I like that he is a mystery and that his visions are not simple. Time is complex so its nice that that is explained and not used to simply change things. I was really pleased that Anna was more than a Barbie! Lol... glad that she wasn't a typical blond character and has some spunk! The humor throughout the book is great! I always enjoy books that keep that going throughout the whole thing.
I don't have any negative critiques. It is very well written and my favorite thing about it is that it is not predictable. Just when I thought I could start assuming things I was wrong and I liked that a lot. The zombies having some intelligence is epic.... It opens the door for so many possibilities in the next books! Cant wait for the next book!
